Tir Na Moe
THE LAND OF THE YOUNG
(Melodies and songs between tradition and innovation)
(MAP Ethnoworld CCD884)
 2002
67' 45"

It’s amazing! The Ethnoworld label , criticised for having pubblicated in only two years too many productions and accusated to saturate italian discographical market, (...) proposes another celtic CD!

(...) I was still incredulous when I start listening this CD, the cover shows the willingness to search another way for celtic music, if we read the titles of the back-cover we have the first shock: there are all (I mean all) original compositions! (Of Pier Franco Zerbini and Stefania Bongioanni).

After this first emotion I realize that the booklet is very well made (...) and the inside notes are very precise and enriched with photos and images. To the listening, this opera is surprising! We can find songs and melodies that are not gigs or reels-like,  but they look forward a more universal vision of the tradition, tarantellas and oriental tastesso. To define "celtic" this kind of music is extremely wrong and restrictive.

We can say that they have amalgamated a very personal sound, different to anything else I have listened before,  so much vital in a projection of a new traditional music generation. (...) Fourtheen songs of excellent music, each song would merit a single chapter.

Let me name them and their many instruments: Stefania Bongioanni (voice, digital piano, dulcimer, harmonium, tin wistle, celtic harp), Alberto Monti (electric and acoustic bass, bodhràn), Pier Franco Zerbini (hurdy-gurdy, scottish and italian bagpipe, accordion, flutes, percussions, celtic harp, voice). (...)

I challange anyone to buy this record and say it is not a competitive production, at european level!

TIR NA MOE: the land of the Young it must be in your collection, to the italian group, revelation of 2002 we assign our Star “Traditional Arranged”.
